More Powered Mobility Training: How To, With What, Where, When, and Why?
Saturday, October 20, 2007 9:30 am - 10:30 am
The times have changed. However, the training of powered mobility with children has not. How the chair performs, where the parts are mounted, and the adapted seating are still "small" replicas of adult configurations. We will share strategies and equipment that will create systems for children to support increased independent mobility. We will focus first on teaching mobility, and then work on driving. We will share successful strategies of seating/positioning/access and equipment that have allowed children to develop functional independence. This session will focus initially on seating, access, and mobility then shift to the equipment needed, its programming, and use.
